Where to start?

Don’t panic! We got you, brother!

It can be a big obstacle, even feel like a leap of faith, to start traveling as a tabler for the first time, but all of us had our first international meeting somewhere.

Here you will find the steps you need to take that leap of faith and get out there.

Just be aware – when you first start, there’s no way back.

A few small tips for your planning

Pretours Some of the big events (usually RTI or AGMs) have pretours where it’s the local tablers that arranged it. This can be a nice way to experience the country from a local perspective and since it’s usually small groups on pretours, you will get to know the other tablers there a lot better – forming friendships for life.
Family If you’re not in meetings all day, for most of the events you can easily bring your family.
Home hosting If you get the opportunity to get home hosted then take it! This is an awesome opportunity to get to know your fellow tabler and his family – again forming friendships for life.

1. Choose the event

First thing is to choose the event, whether it’s a national AGM, World Meeting or anything in between.

Look at https://tabler.events and see how an event can fit in your calendar.

It might also be that you have dreamed of visiting specific countries. Look at the list of Round Table countries and learn more.

2. Planning the trip

When you know the event, dates and where to go, it’s time for actually planning the trip.

Go to https://momondo.com to search for flights. Always book directly from the airline.

Afterwards use https://hotels.com to search for and book your accommodation. It might be that the tablers at the meeting or event are able to home host you. Ask for that before you book your hotel.

3. Packing list

Packing the right things is very important when traveling as a tabler. Look at the Packing list to know what to pack.

4. Go have an experience of a lifetime

Be in it when you’re there, have an experience of a lifetime, have fun with all the other tablers and learn the do’s and don’ts when you’re Out there.

5. Travel home

Share your experiences and tell all the tablers at home how awesome an experience it was to travel internationally as a tabler.

6. Always have your next trip planned

Types of meetings

Numbers Meeting / Euromeeting / World Meeting

For most international tablers, this is where it all begins.

As every club has a number, there’re usually other clubs with the same number in other countries. It’s a “safe” way for a green international tabler to get familiar to travel and meet tablers abroad.

These clubs meet up every year and each number have their own naming of the event and rules about naming of the event, who’s next to convene, etc.

Information about clubs and contact information are mostly available through https://tabler.world.

Club meeting / AGM

Many clubs around the world open up for international tablers to join their meetings and even their AGM.

When you’re traveling somewhere, even with business or your family, look up under Countries and on https://tabler.world to see if you can attend a club meeting while you’re in the country.

This can be a nice way to expand your network and get new friends around the world.

It might also be that you find yourself in a position some day in a country far away where you need a helping hand or you would like to do business.

RTI World Meeting

This is the AGM of Round Table International and is held in a different country every year. These are usually big events with a lot of tablers joining.

RTI Regional Meeting

RTI is divided into 5 regions and each region have their own AGM every year. See regions under Countries.

RTI Half Year Meeting

The Half Year AGM of Round Table International. These are usually smaller than the World Meetings.

National / Half Year AGM

Each RT country have their own AGM and depending on the size of the country, it can be both an intimate and grand experience.

Some countries even have Half Year Meeting (HYM) every year.

Club / country chartering

Occasionally, you can be lucky to be able to witness the birth (aka chartering) of a new club or even country.

This is a rare experience and makes a lot of good memories.

Special events

In many countries and clubs, they have some special events like Beer Fest, Halloween, Octoberfest, etc. These can usually also be found on https://tabler.events.
